Simple Syrup

This versatile syrup is a common component of many baking and pastry recipes including our classic Napoleon.

Ingredients

Makes 2 cups

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Directions

  1. Stir the sugar and water together in a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
  2. Bring the syrup to a boil over high heat and boil without stirring for about 3 minutes.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat, cool to room temperature, and refrigerate until ready to use.
